From greenhouse to field: Exploring Intraspecific trait variation under drought

This study delves into the intricate world of intraspecific trait variation (ITV) in plants, shedding light on how individual variation within species plays a crucial role in shaping responses to environmental challenges, particularly drought conditions. Through a comprehensive examination spanning European herbaceous species in greenhouse experiments to field studies in Colombia's tropical dry forests, the research offers valuable insights into plants' resilience and ecosystem functioning under climate change pressures. By mapping traits across different plant compartments (above- and belowground) under a drought experiment and exploring trait-growth relationships under natural drought conditions, this work enhances our understanding of plant adaptation strategies in ecosystems facing future drier scenarios.
